The Healing Foundation funds research to improve the quality of life for those affected by disfigurement or visible loss of function.
Our objectives are:
To fund research into the improvement of treatments for the benefit of people who suffer from the physical, psychological, social or emotional disadvantage of disfigurement.
To fund research into the prevention of accidents which may cause such conditions.
To raise awareness of the useful results of such research and help train workers throughout the world in appropriate treatments.
To inform people about the availability of such treatments.
We are committed to:
Promoting and funding pioneering research into both physical and psychological aspects of reconstructive surgery and wound healing.
Enhancing psychological and practical support for patients and families.
Helping to promote and fund training of health workers in the clinical and psychosocial areas of reconstructive surgery, both in the UK and in developing countries.
Creating greater public awareness of the significant impact of reconstructive surgery and its relevance to huge numbers of people.
Influencing public attitudes towards those living with disfigurements and loss of function.
Strengthening the collaboration and partnership between associated disciplines, including care and counselling bodies and scientific organisations.
Assisting in the reduction of preventable disfigurements by supporting organisations providing community education.
Maximising the fundraising potential on a national basis.
